The Hague
Government Buildings Statue den Haag Sculpture on Korte Voorhout
Apart from being the royal residence and the Netherlands' administrative capital, The Hague is home to both parliament and government. It has a magnetic attraction for international companies and institutions. Besides multinationals like Shell, The Hague boasts many telecom and IT companies. It also appeals to legal institutions, the list of which is headed by UN bodies such as the International Court of Arbitration (Peace Palace), the former Yugoslavia Tribunal and Europol. A leafy city of international allure with two seaside resorts, The Hague offers an elegant combination of historic and modern perspectives, combining efficient meeting facilities in an historical city and the enchantment of the light-hearted life in a beach resort.  Conveniently located between two airports, traveling to The Hague is limited to 30 minutes.

The Hague is known as the Royal city by the sea, and offers a wide variety of attractions, a historic city centre and all kinds of entertainment including world-class shopping and museums. Throughout centuries, the Parliament Building, the Binnenhof, stood at the centre of political life in Holland. The dominating centre was the Knights' Hall, built in the 13th century. Next to the Binnenhof, you will find one of the Hague's highlights, the Mauritshuis museum. This museum is one of Holland's most beautiful classicist buildings and is home to one of the world's leading collections of the 17th century Dutch masterpieces. Lovers of historical architecture can enjoy it to their hearts' content in the grand old streets near the Binnenhof and the Palace Noordeinde. The former Palace at Lange Voorhout is a picturesque palace dating from the 18th century and located in the most beautiful part of The Hague. Here lie a huge collection of prints, sketches and drawings by the world-famous Dutch graphic artist M. C. Escher.

Meanwhile for shopping, the Hague is a good match for Amsterdam. Being home to the international embassies located in the Netherlands, the cities upmarket boutiques cater for the embassy crowd, while fine art galleries, antiques and interior design stores offer all one could possibly hope to find.
